About WITO

Welcoming Immigrants to Oregon (WITO) has been helping settle refugee families in the Corvallis, Oregon area since 2008. We work to help create a welcoming home for new community members from all over the globe.

Our Work

WITO is a Corvallis-based group of volunteers organized to support immigrants and refugees as  they arrive in the Corvallis community. WITO collaborates with Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon's SOAR office and has been welcoming new families to Corvallis since 2008.

We strive to provide welcoming, culturally sensitive support to refugee individuals and families that have experienced loss, trauma, and transition. We recognize the diverse paths and experiences of refugees. We feel it is our obligation to step forward and assist them on their journey.

WITO has helped a number of families resettle in the Corvallis area over the past decade, including those from Iraq, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Afghanistan.

Vision

WITO-Corvallis is a volunteer group dedicated to supporting refugees and welcoming them into our community.

WITO-Corvallis aspires to integrate people from different backgrounds into our community. We acknowledge the global displacement of peoples and realize the various challenges and journeys that refugees have faced. We hope to empower our new friends to move toward independence and self-actualization. We offer a small town setting, a supportive network, and an experienced and dedicated volunteer culture. We are transformed and enriched by our ability to engage deeply with our newly arrived friends.
